Senior Clemons rushes for 202 yards, three TDs

CARLISLE -- Myzick Clemons found the end zone three times for the Altoona Mountain Lions en route to a 28-13 victory over the Carlisle Thundering Herd at Ken Millen Stadium Friday night.
Clemons finished with 202 yards on 24 carries as the Mountain Lions moved to 3-1 on the season with the victory.
"We thought we needed to get him going between the tackles for sure, and credit to our guys up front and to Myzick hitting it full speed downhill," Altoona coach Vince Nedimyer Jr. said. "That's what we've been asking for for a couple weeks, and we've got it the last two weeks for sure."
The Mountain Lions fell behind after Carlisle's Carter Wilson intercepted quarterback Mekhi Jackson's pass at the goal line and took it 100 yards to the end zone.
The Thundering Herd went into the half up 13-7, but a fumble and interception on consecutive offensive possessions to start the second half swung the momentum and the game toward Altoona.
Play of the game: Despite losing, Carlisle had the biggest play when Willson returned a Jackson interception 100 yards in the first quarter.
Player of the game: Clemons had 202 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries.
Unsung heroes: Altoona's defense.
Most vital statistic: For the third straight week, Altoona had a 100-yard rusher.
Nedimyer Jr.: "We knew they were getting better watching them on film from week one to week three. We knew it was going to be a dogfight, and anywhere in this conference to get a win on the road or in general is hard, but when you go on the road and you get it done, I couldn't be more proud of our kids."
Carlisle coach Brandon Cook: "Those two turnovers were everything. That set the tempo for our whole second half, and you saw the result and effort."
Clemons: "It feels great, you know. We've been working all week for this game, put in the work in practice and came out here and executed."
Notable: Altoona held Carlisle to 61 total yards in the second half … The win against Carlisle was the first at Carlisle since 2010.
