Schenk shows off his ability in Central’s win

JOHNSTOWN -- Carter Schenk's offensive versatility led the Central Dragons to a 44-0 victory over Johnstown at Trojan Stadium.
The Dragons' offense took advantage of a handful of Johnstown mistakes all around, but Schenk was the guy that stood out, scoring three different kinds of touchdowns. A rushing touchdown to put Central ahead in the first quarter, a passing touchdown right after on a trick play, and a receiving touchdown to open up the second half.
"The offense was giving us plenty of time for us to do what we needed to do," Schenk said. "We have a lot of guys that returned and it's a different vibe this year going around."
Central got in front early after a few mistakes from Johnstown. On the first drive, a snap went over the Trojan's quarterback's head, leading to a punt, setting up Schenk's first score. Then a fumble gave Central good position and from there, they performed a trick play where a backwards pass from Jesse Muthler to Schenk allowed Schenk to throw it to Adam Loucks for a 29-yard touchdown.
Following that, the Dragon defense settled in and got multiple stops after that. Semaj Musei and Muthler added touchdown runs before the half and Bronson Myers added one of his own in the third. After a fumble recovery on the kickoff, Muthler found Schenk in the end zone to really break things open. Two safeties afterwards put the finishing touch on a 44-0 victory for the Dragons, giving them their first 2-0 start since 2023.
"First of all, it's a team effort for us," Central coach Jerry Albright said. "It's not one individual having outstanding nights, it's 11 guys on the field having outstanding games. Our offense has been clicking these last two weeks."
Player of the game: Schenk accounted for three touchdowns, 46 rushing yards, 29 passing yards and 38 receiving yards.
Unsung hero: Musei added 86 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Most vital statistic: Central's defense recovered two fumbles and collected an interception.
Johnstown coach Tony Penna Jr.: "Two weeks in a row it has been unforced errors. Central's a really good club, you can tell on tape that they've spent a lot of time together. I give coach Jerry, my college teammate, a lot of credit. We don't have that margin for error right now. I haven't gotten them as sharp as they need to be. I got some work to do."
