CRESSON -- From the onset Friday night, Richland dominated Penn Cambria. The Rams' perfect record entering the game was never in jeopardy, as they cruised to a 62-8 final over the Panthers. Richland's Caleb Burke factored into two different scores, as did Trevor Tustin. Defensively, the Rams held Penn Cambria to less than 250 total yards, and they turned the Panthers over-on-downs four times, and intercepted them twice.
Play of the game: The first pass attempt for Penn Cambria set the tone. Quarterback Garrett Harrold fired it to his receiver, only for Richland's Burke to jump the route and intercept the pass. Burke brought the ball back inside the 5-yard line where it set up the shortest drive of the game for Richland.
Player of the game: Richland's Burke. Listed as an athlete, he very much played that role. An interception on defense, 76 receiving yards, 53 rushing yards, 87 passing yards, and touchdowns receiving and throwing made for a complete night.
Unsung hero(es): Penn Cambria's Harrold. The freshman was shaky early, but found his groove toward the end of the first half, finishing the game by completing seven of his final 10 passes. Penn Cambria likes to run a high-tempo, multiple-route combination-type offense, and the freshman quarterback has grown as a passer.
Most vital statistic(s): Richland had eight runs that went for fewer than 10 yards ... Penn Cambria had 19 runs go for zero or negative yards ... Richland's Jordan Ford completed two passes for 87 yards and a touchdown; both completions were to Tustin, who finished the game with just those two receptions and 87 yards ... Richland had five personal foul penalties in the game, including two on the second touchdown of the game ... The result of two personal foul penalties that occur after a scoring play: the Rams kicked off from their own 12 yard line.
Penn Cambria coach Nick Felus: "We are what we are. ... We don't put emphasis on who you are, or your age, we put emphasis on whether you're a team player or not."
Richland coach Brandon Bailey: "When you have all of that going on (offense, defense, special teams), you're going to score a lot of points in a game."
Richland Player Caleb Burke: "We had a team effort tonight. Everybody contributed, down to the young guys holding down the fort at the end of the game."
Notable: Richland Quarterback Kellan Stahl left the game in the first quarter and did not return.
Records: Richland (9-0) Penn Cambria (1-8).
Next week: Richland is back at home to play Chestnut Ridge, Penn Cambria stays at home and plays Forest Hills.
