Report: Franco steps down as Tyrone football coach
John Franco has reportedly stepped down as the Tyrone Area High School football coach.
According to a story by Kerry Naylor on the website, “Orange and Black,” Franco informed the Tyrone football underclassmen in the program of his decision at a meeting on Saturday morning.
The Mirror attempted to get confirmation from Franco or Tyrone athletic director Luke Rhoades via text but was unsuccessful as of Saturday afternoon.
Franco had two stints at both Tyrone and Altoona Area High School and also coached at Penn Cambria, posting 291 career wins. He led Tyrone to a state championship in 1999 and to two other state final appearances.
The Mirror will attempt to provide a full story in the coming days.
