The Altoona Mountain Lions scored first, but State College roared back with 37 unanswered points en route to a 37-7 win at Mansion Park Stadium Friday night.
Julian Hazlewood took a screen pass from Parker White 63 yards on the third play of the game to set up White's touchdown pass to Cody Chathams in the first quarter. Altoona did not enter the red zone the remainder of the night.
From there, it was all the Little Lions as D'Antae Sheffey rushed for 192 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns while quarterback Connor Kulka threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns.
Altoona's play of the game: Michael Chisolm hauled in a screen pass and sprinted 64 yards on the third play of the game to set up Altoona's touchdown on the next play.
Player of the game: Sheffey
Unsung heroes: The State College offensive line. It has helped the offense rush for more than 200 yards two weeks in a row.
Most vital statistics: State College rattled off 37 unanswered points.
State College coach Matt Lintal: "(Altoona) hit a big play on their third play of the game, then had a nice bootleg to get in the end zone. Credit to them for coming out ready to go and credit to our kids for just staying settled.''
Altoona coach Vince Nedimyer Jr.: "Our kids executed (on the first drive). We've just got to get over the hump of -- we score on the first drive of the game and then shot ourselves in the foot a couple of times.''
Sheffey: "I've got a great bond with the guys, the O-line, for sure, quarterback, everybody. We're pretty young. We're just working together, getting better and better every week.''
Notable: Sheffey transferred back to State College from Harrisburg after last season … With his carries in the fourth quarter, Vince Nedimyer III became a fourth generation Mountain Lion … Jahrell Baker had an interception for Altoona.
