Hollidaysburg Area High School football coach Homer DeLattre and nine members of the state champion Bishop Guilfoyle Academy football team were among those honored on the PA Football News Coaches-Select All-State teams that were released on Thursday.
DeLattre, who led the Golden Tigers to an undefeated regular season, was voted as the Class 5A coach of the year. Voting was done by coaches statewide.
Four of DeLattre's players were also honored with Josh Banks (outside linebacker) and Paul Wedel (punter) making the first team in 5A, and Wyatt Maines (offensive tackle) and Gavin Bell (return specialist) getting voted to the second team.
In Class 1A, BG dominated the first team with five members -- quarterback Chase Kissell, wide receiver Hamilton Gates, offensive tackle Joseph Eckenrode, defensive end Jake Kissell and kicker Michael Cacciotti. The Marauders placed four more players on the 1A second team -- Braden Reilly (wide receiver), Rocco Cacciotti (defensive tackle), Nicholas McCloskey (outside linebacker) and Taurean Consiglio (middle linebacker).
Also in 1A, Northern Bedford safety Aaron Bowers made the first team, as did Northern Cambria athlete Ty Dumm and defensive tackle Lucas Shutty. On the 1A second team were Northern Cambria tight end Caleb Dolney and Moshannon Valley defensive tackle Tyler Lobb.
District 6 Class 3A champion Penn Cambria had two players make the 3A first team in wide receiver Gavin Harrold and cornerback Marcus Eckenrode. Central's Lukas Black (outside linebacker) also made the first team, and the Scarlet Dragons' Kaden Horn was the second-team long snapper.
The 6A, 4A and 2A teams are scheduled to be released today.
