From Mirror reports
Several PIAA quarterfinal football games were postponed Friday night due to weather conditions around the state, including games involving Bishop Guilfoyle Academy and Penn Cambria.
BG was set to play District 8 champ Westinghouse in a Class 1A game at Highlands High School in Natrona Heights at 7 p.m., but the game was postponed Friday afternoon and will now be played at 1 p.m. Saturday at Farrell High School.
"We had the bus loaded, ready to go with kids on board when we got notified that the game was going to be postponed,'' BG coach Justin Wheeler texted the Mirror on Friday. "Just like most football coaches, I'm not a big fan of change, but safety has to be a priority, and the weather was extremely bad heading west. So the postponement was a good decision.''
The game at Farrell will force BG to travel nearly three hours Saturday morning to a site that was originally scheduled for Greater Johnstown High School. Westinghouse's trip to Farrell is approximately 1¢ hours.
"An hour or so after (Friday's game) was postponed, we got notified that our quarterfinal game was moving to Farrell High School at 1 p.m.,'' Wheeler texted. "(It's) going to be an early morning (Saturday) for sure, but we are excited for the opportunity to play.''
Penn Cambria's Class 3A game against District 10 champ Hickory at Armstrong High School in Kittanning was also moved to Saturday. The two teams will now play at noon at the same site.
The Penn Cambria-Hickory game then forced the Class 2A contest between Cambria Heights and Central Clarion, also scheduled for Armstrong High School, to switch to a 7 p.m. start Saturday. It was originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
