CLAYSBURG -- Claysburg-Kimmel and Glendale entered Friday's game with matching 4-2 records but appear to be headed in different directions.
The Bulldogs took full advantage of three early Glendale turnovers to open up a 28-0 halftime lead on their way to a 47-0 win at Bulldog Stadium.
Claysburg-Kimmel has now won five straight after opening 0-2. Glendale started 3-0 but has now dropped three of its last four.
Offensive players of the game: Mason Campagna completed 12-of-20 passes for 196 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for another 71 yards and three scores. Mark Lattieri ran for 117 yards, caught three passes for 92 yards and had three total touchdowns.
Defensive players of the game: Defensive end Remington Diehl and linebacker Collton Replogle put constant pressure on Glendale quarterback Logan Skebeck, combining for six sacks and numerous other hits and tackles.
Replogle: "Our D-line played really well and gave us linebackers a lot of room to make plays. We were able to get our blitzes in there and get sacks and turnovers."
Claysburg-Kimmel coach Chuck Kassick on Diehl and Replogle: "They bring so much energy and not just on Friday night. Monday at film, they have energy. Tuesday at practice, they have energy. It's all day, every day. There's no stopping those guys."
Plays of the game: After putting together two drives for an early 14-0 lead, Claysburg blew the game open with a pair of quick scores in the final four minutes of the first half.
First, Campagna rolled left and threw back across the field to a wide open Lattieri, who outraced the defense for a 63-yard score.
Campagna: "Our playbook is very advanced. We can run many different plays out of many different formations. It helps spread out of the defense, and we were very successful at it."
On the Bulldogs' ensuing possession, Lattieri sprinted through a gaping hole in the middle of the Glendale defense for a 66-yard touchdown in the final minute of the half.
Lattieri: "They were blowing us up in the middle early, but once we got into a little rhythm, our line started opening it up and gave us some good running space."
Vital statistics: Claysburg's normally run-heavy offense was much more balanced with 217 yards rushing and 196 yards passing.
Kassick: "We want to be more balanced. We've got some pretty good athletes. Their middle is stout. The first couple drives they were not giving us anything up the middle. We had to use our athletes on the flank, make 'em play 53 yards across. Not just 8 to 10 yards in the middle of the field."
Glendale turned the ball over on each of its first three possessions and finished with five turnovers.
Glendale coach Spank Trexler: "We just didn't execute. We made some errors early, didn't respond and never got in any kind of groove," Glendale coach Spank Trexler said. "Claysburg's a good team, but we're better than what we showed (Friday)."
