EBENSBURG -- Chestnut Ridge senior tailback Haydan Webb takes great pride in his running style, a form where he attempts to inflict as much pain on the opposing defender as possible by lowering his shoulder.
The Lions' offensive workhorse turned in another stellar performance on the ground on Friday night, racking up 202 yards and four touchdowns in a 33-15 victory over Central Cambria.
"I definitely play physical," Webb said. "I like to put the pain to them until they don't like to tackle me anymore. I just don't stop going. I pump my legs until I go down."
Player of the game: Webb carried the ball 32 times in the victory, averaging 6.3 yards per carry.
The 6-foot, 218-pounder scored on runs of 10, 7, 2 and 3 yards. Webb recorded six carries of 10 yards or more, highlighted by a 48-yard scamper in the second quarter.
"He's a big part of our game plan every Friday night," Chestnut Ridge coach Max Shoemaker said of Webb. "He's our workhorse. How we build our offense is based around him. He's done a lot of good things for us this year, and we look forward to seeing him accomplish more."
Webb's 2-yard score gave the Lions an insurmountable 26-0 lead at the 6:40 mark of the third quarter. This was Chestnut Ridge's fourth consecutive scoring drive and fifth in six attempts to start the game.
"Our line played very well tonight," Webb said. "They opened up some big holes and gave me the ability to jump out and get a couple big gains."
Unsung heroes: The Chestnut Ridge defense forced three Central Cambria punts and an interception from Owen Claycomb in the first half as the Lions out-gained the Red Devils 215-69 through two quarters.
Chestnut Ridge (4-2) got two scores from Webb and two field goals from Thomas Kaustenbauder to build a 19-0 lead at the break.
"I told the kids that the first half was our best half of football we've had this year," Shoemaker said. "There wasn't a whole lot of things we had to correct, we just had to keep doing what we were doing."
Most vital statistic: Chestnut Ridge's 26-point lead at the midpoint of the third quarter proved to be key for the Lions, as Central Cambria attempted a spirited comeback in the second half.
Hunter Pittsinger scored on a 1-yard run and threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Burkett to close the gap to 26-15 with 9:52 left in the game.
Webb's fourth and final score with 2:35 remaining in the game.
"The way we played in the second half, that's the way I expected us to play all year," Central Cambria coach Don Fyfe said. "We played physical and we played with emotion. Yeah, we lost the game, but we won the second half 15-14. We gotta build off that. It's frustrating because we are better than what our record is."
Notable: Chestnut Ridge is 6-0 against Central Cambria since joining the LHAC in 2018 ... Central Cambria has lost all six games this season and seven consecutive overall ... The Red Devils' current losing streak is their longest since dropping eight in a row in 2019.
