HUNTINGDON -- Sometimes, you go into a stadium knowing how good you are and you end up showing it right from the moment the ball is kicked off.
Bishop Guilfoyle Academy has had one of the most explosive offenses and strongest defenses in the Mirror coverage area through the first four weeks of the season.
Friday night that complete team effort showed again as BG pummeled Huntingdon, 55-20, in Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference action at War Veterans Memorial Field.
Play of the game: On the Bearcats' first possession of the game, Rocco Cacciotti recovered a fumble for the Marauders and returned it to the Huntingdon 17. Following a 10-yard penalty for holding, BG scored on a 27-yard pass from Chase Kissell to Taurean Consiglio, which helped put the game away early.
Players of the game: Kissell and Hamilton Gates share this honor. Kissell was 12-for-17 passing for 311 yards and five touchdowns. Gates caught four passes for 157 yards and two receiving touchdowns. He also scored on a pick-6 from 72 yards out.
Unsung hero: Consiglio scored three times for the Marauders --twice on the ground, once through the air.
Flying away: BG beat Huntingdon through the air by a staggering margin of 318-39.
Bishop Guilfoyle coach Justin Wheeler: "If you look at our skill guys, it might be overall one of the best groups of five we've ever had. It's difficult to try to double anyone because we have some skill, and these guys are really good friends, and are really talented. I think we saw this summer that our 7-on-7s went so well with our skill that we knew it was going to be hard to double our guys.''
Huntingdon coach Tim Lucko: "We just got to learn to compete, and the mentality moving forward is win one play. Win the play, move on to the next, win that play. Just try to build some momentum that way.''
Bishop Guilfoyle's Chase Kissell: "Taurean is an unbelievable player. You get him the ball anywhere, and he can make a play, run a guy over and break it. Same with Hamilton (Gates), Braden (Reilly), and Jake (Kissell). We got so many skill guys that it makes my life easy. We're just so talented, and I think teams are going to have play us over the top more, and it's going to open up the run game.''
Notable: The Marauders overcame eight penalties for 60 yards, while the Bearcats were called for two for 15. ... Landon Erdman put up an impressive 165 yards on 22 carries and scored twice for Huntingdon. ... Both teams punted once and registered 17 first downs. ... Kissell has now passed for over 1,000 yards for the season.
