Notable: Hollidaysburg made the PIAA quarterfinals for the first time since 2021 last year, but it was the first time since 1994 the Lady Tigers won two games to get there. In 1994, Hollidaysburg was playing in Class 4A — which was the largest classification in the state at that point. … If the Lady Tigers win, it could set up a rematch of last year’s 51-37 second-round win over York Suburban in Lewistown. … Though Trinity is the seventh-place team out of the WPIAL, the Hillers only lost to WPIAL champion, 26-23, in the quarterfinals. … This Trinity team plays out of Washington, PA. There is a different Trinity team in the Class 3A playoffs that plays out of Camp Hill. … As the fifth-place team out of the WPIAL, Trinity fell to Cathedral Prep, 53-29 in the 2024 state playoffs.

Notable: Wednesday March 15, 2023 is the last time Bishop Guilfoyle Academy lost a state playoff game, and it was to Otto-Eldred, 49-37, at DuBois. The Lady Marauders had an eight-point lead early in the game but were outscored 21-12 in the fourth quarter as the Terrors pulled away. … Otto-Eldred entered the District 9 playoffs as the No. 2 seed but finished fourth. … The Terrors defeated Geibel Catholic in the first round last year before they lost to Williamsburg, 47-36, in the second round. … Otto-Eldred made it to the PIAA quarterfinals in 2022 with victories over Bishop Carroll and Bishop Canevin before a 77-30 loss to Kennedy Catholic. … The Terrors were eliminated from the PIAA playoffs by Juniata Valley in 2018. … Bishop Guilfoyle has won the last two PIAA Class 1A championships and is 113-34 all-time in the PIAA tournament with nine state titles, tied for the most among any girls team with Archbishop Wood. … Since 1978, there have only been four years that BG did not qualify for the PIAA playoffs.

She is questionable to play in this game. … Serra Catholic freshman Lexi Pearce, who scored a game-high 17 points and had six rebounds in the WPIAL championship, will not play after leaving the title game with an injury with 2:01 left in the third quarter. She returned to the bench in a cast and wheelchair. … Serra Catholic sophomore Bella Dumbroski went over the career 1,000-point mark in the WPIAL championship and finished with 16 points. … In this same game last season, Williamsburg knocked off WPIAL champion Union before topping Otto-Eldred in the second round and falling to Bishop Carroll Catholic in the quarterfinals. … Williamsburg has made it to at least the PIAA quarterfinals every year since 2021, making it to the PIAA semifinals twice. … Serra Catholic did not make the state playoffs last season. The Rams beat Berlin Brothersvalley, 66-49, in their opener and won two games against Heritage Conference teams in Marion Center, 77-57, and Penns Manor, 80-41. … Bishop Guilfoyle defeated Bishop Canevin in the PIAA first round last year before losing to WPIAL champion South Allegheny, 55-47, in the second round. South Allegheny went all the way to the PIAA title game before losing by nine to West Catholic. … Bishop Guilfoyle defeated Burrell in the first round in 2024 before falling in overtime to Girard, 55-52, in the Class 3A second round.
