This week’s high school basketball games to watch

Metro

BOYS

MONDAY

Claysburg-Kimmel at Juniata Valley, 7:15

Notable: Currently the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds in District 6 Class 2A and have put up a lot of points this season.

Tyrone at Williamsport, 7:30

Notable: Golden Eagles would love to move up a couple spots in District 6 Class 3A field, and this would be an important game to help that happen.

TUESDAY

Altoona at Hollidaysburg, 7:30

Notable: Golden Tigers won by 11 on Dec. 1, but both teams have gone through a lot of changes since that game.

Bishop McCort at Bishop Carroll, 7:15

Notable: McCort (2A) and Carroll (1A) are both trying to hold on to hosting a playoff game as a top-four seed in their classification.

Westmont Hilltop at Bishop Guilfoyle, 6

Notable: Hilltoppers and BG are among the top three seeds in 3A. Teams are both in the LHAC playoff hunt as well.

WEDNESDAY

Harrisburg at Altoona, 6:30

Notable: Mountain Lions beat Harrisburg, 83-67, on the road on Jan. 9.

Tyrone at Central, 7:30

Notable: Golden Eagles won in Tyrone, 62-55, in overtime earlier this season.

THURSDAY

Juniata Valley at Saint Joseph’s, 7:30

Notable: Another matchup of current No. 3 seeds with St. Joseph in 1A and the Hornets in 2A.

FRIDAY

Central at Hollidaysburg, 7:30

Notable: Golden Tigers topped Central by 12 just before Christmas in Martinsburg.

Claysburg-Kimmel at Northern Bedford, 8

Notable: Part of Sideline Cancer’s ‘I Can Cup” doubleheader with the girls game at 6.

SATURDAY

Bishop Guilfoyle at Central, 3:15

Notable: Scarlet Dragons managed just 27 points in the first meeting on Jan. 28.

GIRLS

MONDAY

Bellefonte at Bishop Guilfoyle, 7:30

Notable: The Lady Marauders will be holding senior night for Gia Adams, Stella Yeskey and Payton Ronan.

Bishop McCort at Central Cambria, 7:15

Notable: McCort won by 11 earlier this season. Lady Crushers are currently No. 2 in Class 2A, and Lady Devils are No. 2 in 3A.

Penn Cambria at Bishop Carroll, 7:15

Notable: On Dec. 10, Bishop Carroll beat Penn Cambria, 50-47. While BC is basically locked into the No. 2 seed in 1A, a win could help PC in 4A.

TUESDAY

Central Cambria at Forest Hills, 7:15

Notable: Makeup game from last week, but that doesn’t change that Forest Hills is never an easy place to play a girls basketball game.

HERITAGE CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS

Cambria Heights at Penns Manor, 7

Notable: Lady Comets edged Cambria Heights, 41-39, on Jan. 13, and Lady Highlanders have played a lot of good teams close this year.

WEDNESDAY

Saint Joseph’s at Juniata Valley, 6

Notable: Final opportunity for the Lady Hornets to make a statement that they can compete with the top four teams in District 6 Class 1A.

THURSDAY

Forest Hills at Bishop Carroll, 7:15

Notable: Lady Huskies won by 16 over District 5 Class 4A defending champion Forest Hills in December.

Hollidaysburg at Central, 7:30

Notable: Lady Dragons have been playing better in the second half of the season, but this will be a huge test.

FRIDAY

Central Cambria at Penn Cambria, 7:15

Notable: Big rivalry game with plenty on the line. This is the third meeting between the teams, which split two games in the first week of the year.

Hollidaysburg at Clearfield, 7:30

Notable: Senior Mia Helsel and junior Sonny Diehl each have scored more than 1,000 career points for Clearfield.

SATURDAY

Bishop Guilfoyle vs. Oakland Catholic at North Allegheny H.S., 1:30

Notable: Oakland Catholic entered the week unbeaten in its division in the WPIAL but did lose to Berlin Brothersvalley earlier this season.

Johnstown at Bellwood-Antis, 11 a.m.

Notable: Makeup game that could be vital for a Lady Blue Devils team trying to secure a home playoff game.
