Notable: Since the PIAA expanded basketball classifications to six in 2017, Hollidaysburg has won seven of the nine District 6 Class 5A championships and has won five straight (2021-2025). … Portage and Obama Academy are the only other two schools to win 5A girls titles. … Hollidaysburg has won three 4A district titles (2013, 1991, 1989), and the Lady Tigers won back-to-back 3A championships in 2011 and 2012. … Hollidaysburg won the regular-season matchup, 52-34, at Johnstown with the help of a 23-point effort from Makenna Weimert. Zayona Thomas led Johnstown in that game with 11 points. … Johnstown won a District 6 Class 4A championship in 2024 and lost to Hollidaysburg in last year’s 5A title game at Central Cambria. … Johnstown also won a 3A championship in 2002.

Who they get: The winner will play the winner of the subregional game between the District 10 champion and District 9 champion on Friday, Feb. 27. Both the winner and loser of that game will advance to the PIAA tournament. The winner will host the seventh seed from the WPIAL, and the loser will host the fifth seed from the WPIAL on Friday, March 6.

Notable: The teams met in a regular season game at Johnstown on Jan. 16, and the Trojans came away with a 68-61 victory in overtime. Kasen Metzger suffered an injury in that game in the second half and did not return, and Raheem Braswell fouled out in the fourth quarter. … Hollidaysburg has not won a District 6 championship since 2018 (its only 5A title). … Johnstown won Class 5A titles in 2019, 2020 and again last season. The Trojans won Class 4A championships in 2024, 2023, 2021, 2017, 1997, 1994, 1993, and 1992. They won 3A titles in 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2001, 1974, 1973, 1968, 1963, 1961, 1960, 1955, 1954, 1953, 1951, 1943, and the first District 6 Class 3A boys title in 1924. … Hollidaysburg won 4A championships in 2010, 2006, 2000, 1999 and 1989. The Golden Tigers won 3A titles in 2016 and 1931. … Amier Robinson is a 1,000-point career scorer and received a Division I offer from North Carolina A&T. … After losing to Johnstown on Jan. 16, Hollidaysburg finished the regular season by winning nine of its last 10 games. … Johnstown’s losses are to Bishop Guilfoyle (twice), Penn Cambria and WPIAL opponent Fox Chapel.
