Penn Cambria boys edge Central, 61-60

CRESSON -- Brandon Rabish's conventional three-point play with 29 seconds left gave Penn Cambria the lead in a 61-60 victory over Central on Saturday in high school boys basketball.

Central's Eli Muthler put the Scarlet Dragons ahead, 60-46, with 3:40 remaining in the game before the Panthers finished the game on a 15-0 run.

Penn Cambria was led by Gavin Harrold's 16 points. Landon Semelsberger added 13 points, and Rabish had 11.

Mason Byler hit seven 3-pointers for the Dragons to finish with 21 points, and Muthler scored 18 points.

Portage triumphs

JOHNSTOWN -- Portage topped Conemaugh Valley, 60-53, in a high school boys basketball game -- the Mustangs' fourth game in as many days.

Owen Gouse scored a team-high 19 points. Trae Kargo added 15 points, and Bode Layo scored 10 for Portage, which will also play tonight and Tuesday.

Jeremy Dietz scored a game-high 27 points for Conemaugh Valley.

Altoona gymnasts now 7-0

Katie Bettwy won all around honors with a total score of 35.825 to lead Altoona Area to a 141.725-117 victory over Saint Marys in a high school gymnastics competition at the AAHS Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Linae Heaster won the vault, Taylor Knepper won the bars, Maddy Pastore won the floor and Bettwy captured the beam for the Lady Lions, who improved to 7-0.
