Balance helps Eagles pick up road victory

MILL HALL -- Tyrone found itself down by six at the half but used a strong showing in the second half to pull out a 70-67 win over Central Mountain Monday in boys high school basketball.

Sam Crilly led the way for the Golden Eagles with 24 points, while Andrew Escala and Kendall Lehner tallied 12 each and Eli Woomer tossed in 11.

Tyrone outscored Central Mountain 37-28 over the final two quarters.

Treon aids victory

CLAYSBURG -- Christian Treon's 3-pointer with 4:23 left in the fourth quarter stopped a Fannett-Metal run, gave Claysburg-Kimmel the lead for good and kickstarted a game-ending burst that led to a 56-45 win.

Treon poured in a career-high 25 points to lead the Bulldogs, who were up nine points in the third, gave up a 15-2 Tigers run to go down by three in the fourth before ending with a 15-2 run of their own.

Mustangs stumble

PORTAGE -- Portage was outscored by nine in the opening quarter and it was uphill from there as the rally fell short in a 61-58 loss to Conemaugh Township.

The Mustangs, which won the fourth stanza by a 16-12 score, got a game-high 26 points on four 3-pointers from Owen Gouse while Trae Kargo also drilled four from downtown while totaling 16 points, and Bode Layo delivered 10.
