5 min read

SIDMAN -- Williamsburg downed Forest Hills, 47-41, in the championship game of the Forest Hills girls basketball tipoff tournament Saturday with the help of 13 points each from LeeAnna Royer and Levada Gorsuch.

Regan Prough added 10 points for the Lady Pirates, which led 29-13 at halftime.

"We are thankful to Forest Hills for welcoming us to their tournament. We have been looking to strengthen our schedule to help prepare for the postseason," Williamsburg coach Angela Detwiler said. "This was a perfect way to start the season with two really good teams in Indiana and Forest Hills, who are well coached. I was very happy with our balanced play and teamwork. We have some young players that didn't see much floor time last year who stepped up and our returning starters showed great leadership."

Indiana topped Juniata Valley, 38-12, in the consolation game. The Lady Green Hornets, playing without star junior Anna Taylor, managed just one point through three quarters and fell to 0-2 on the season.
