JV’s Chavez helps team get win

FLINTON — Ronal Chavez knocked down four 3-pointers and totaled 21 points to lead four Juniata Valley players in double figures in a 78-61 win over Glendale Tuesday night in boys high school basketball action.

Kyler Spurlin hit three from downtown and accounted for 14 points for the Green Hornets, while Jett Rand and Laken Cook registered 16 and 14 points respectively.

Joey Kitko led all scorers with 25 points for the Vikings, while Landon McGarvey chipped in 12.

Pirates get comeback win

The Blue Pirates, down 29-26 at halftime, got 16 points each from Jesse Brumbaugh and Logan Brantner. Teammate Ethan Reffner added 10 points.

Mustangs downed

SIDMAN — Portage fell down 15 points after one quarter of play and never recovered in a 71-58 loss to Forest Hills.

Owen Gouse led the Mustangs with 21 points, while Bode Layo recorded 16 and Jacob McCoy tacked on 10.

Koy McGough hit for a game-high 23 points and Dylan Stohon had 20 for the Rangers.

LOYSBURG — With the game tied at the half, Northern Bedford outscored Southern Huntingdon by three points in the third and one in the fourth en route to a 63-59 win.

Wesley Horsh poured in 25 points to lead all scorers for the Black Panthers, while Alex Kochara buried four 3-pointers and totaled 16 points.

Cohen Snyder paced the Rockets with 15 points, while Daniel Lessley delivered 10.
