Bishop Guilfoyle came out firing with intensity and shared the basketball against Penns Valley on its way to a 57-34 victory on Wednesday night at the Pleasant Valley Gymnasium.
The win keeps the Lady Marauders unbeaten at 5-0 on the season.
"I was proud of the way that we shared the basketball," Bishop Guilfoyle coach Kristi Kaack said. "I thought we defended with a lot of intensity across the board."
In the first frame, Bishop Guilfoyle came out in a full-court press, holding Penns Valley to seven points.
"We're really trying to ramp it up on the defensive end of the floor," Kaack said. "We have good speed and length to be able to do it."
Sophomore guard Morgan Ruggery and junior Stella Yeskey racked up eight points each for Bishop Guilfoyle heading into intermission.
"Our team did a really good job of finding each other and finding me when I was open," Ruggery said. "I think we worked together well."
Sophomore Maurie Querry finished the night with 12 points, including six from beyond the arc.
"A lot of it came from my team," Querry said. "Playing together was really what was important tonight, and it showed on the court."
Penns Valley showed some offensive power in the last three quarters, but Bishop Guilfoyle's intensity became too much for them.
"They just came out ready to go, and we did not," Penns Valley coach Terrance Green said. "That's the difference when you play a state-caliber team."
Sydnie Dalton led all Lady Ram scorers with 12 points, while Elle Dinges and Jayden Alexander each contributed seven points.
The Lady Marauders travel to Central on Friday night. Penns Valley will face Bellwood Antis at home.
