The Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders came into Friday's senior night game against the Clearfield Bison looking to push their winning streak to five straight, including 12 of their last 13, and did just that by beating their Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference foes, 90-61, on Friday night at the Pleasant Valley Gymnasium.
The win kept the Marauders (15-3 overall) undefeated in the LHAC at 16-0.
"We're liking where we are," Marauder coach Ryan Lestochi said. "We feel like we're still getting better. The last regular season game, we want to win and just make sure we have the district No. 1 seed, as well as the Laurel Highlands one seed."
Senior shooting guard Kurt Ruggery led all Guilfoyle scorers with 22 points. Juniors Jude Haigh and Trevor Rehm chipped in with 20 and 16 points, respectively.
"I feel very confident," Ruggery said. "I hope we get far (in the playoffs). ... I feel like we can still prove some stuff."
In the fourth quarter, Ruggery nailed four of his six total 3-point shots.
Seniors Ruggery, Tyson Rehm and Torin Robertson have provided leadership for BG this season. Tyson Rehm and Robertson each scored four points on Friday.
"The seniors have been great all year," Lestochi said. "Tonight, they got the shots -- super happy for those guys.''
Clearfield sophomore shooting guard Braison Patrick finished with 17 points.
"I thought Braison played fantastic," Bison coach Nate Glunt said. "He's playing with confidence; he's attacking gaps and making shots."
Despite a 4-15 record, Glunt believes his team is getting better.
"We got better at a lot of little things," said Glunt. "We tried to keep the team out of the paint -- Bishop Guilfoyle just rarely misses 3s."
All season long, the Marauders have always strived for improvement with each game.
"Over the last month, we've really made some leaps," Lestochi said. "I still don't feel we scratched the surface; we're still getting better, and the guys really enjoy each other."
The Marauders travel to Penns Valley on Monday.
