Notable: Bishop Carroll Catholic has won eight District 6 championships under Cosie Aliquo, but the Huskies missed the playoffs last season. Prior to that, Carroll had won three straight district titles and four of the last five. ... Williamsburg has not won a District 6 Class 1A championship since 2001. ... The Blue Pirates were last in a district final in 2022 when they lost to Bishop Carroll, 67-52. The Blue Pirates went on to defeat Otto-Eldred in the first round of the PIAA playoffs before they lost to Imani Christian, which won last year's PIAA championship. ... Repko and Casses are the Huskies' top scorers while Gorsuch leads the way for Williamsburg. Gorsuch is also the Blue Pirates' top pitcher in baseball and helped Williamsburg shut out Blacklick Valley, 9-0, in the District 6 Class 1A quarterfinals last spring.

The teams also met on Dec. 19 at Bishop Guilfoyle, and the Lady Marauders won, 41-37. ... Ayla Hileman did not play in that game after missing the first half of the season due to offseason knee surgery. ... Both teams went on to win first-round PIAA games. ... Williamsburg starts two sophomores and a freshman, and Bishop Guilfoyle starts two sophomores and three freshmen. The Lady Pirates will get even younger next season when top eighth grader Bella Royer joins the rotation. ... BG senior Sarah Geishauser has missed the entire basketball season due to an injury suffered in the soccer state playoffs.
