The offensive firepower of the Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders boys basketball team propelled it to its seventh win of the season on Wednesday night against the Bellefonte Red Raiders, 76-49, at the Pleasant Valley Gymnasium.

Junior Jude Haigh racked up 28 points, including 12 points from beyond the arc, to lead the Marauders (7-2) to the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference victory.

"My teammates," Haigh said. "All credit to them. They did all the work and found me open shots."

Marauders coach Ryan Lestochi knows how important Haigh's presence in the lineup is for his team.

"Jude is our primary scorer," BG coach Ryan Lestochi said. "The guys look to Jude to kind of set the tone for us."

After being down 22 points at halftime, 37-15, Bellefonte came out with a 13-point third-quarter effort. However, the Marauders were still able to put up 24 points on their own which increased the lead to 61-28.

"They're (Bishop Guilfoyle) a really good team," Bellefonte coach Rick Hall said. "We knew that going in."

The Red Raiders, who fell to 2-6 on the season, had a layoff before playing Wednesday's game and Hall realizes that it certainly didn't help his team.

"We haven't played a game in two weeks," he said. "In this new league, we couldn't play our Christmas tournament, and being off for almost two weeks, it showed."

Senior point guard Ethan Tomasacci led all Bellefonte scorers with 15 points. Derek Cox and Jacob McConnell had 11 and seven points, respectively. Troy Ruggery added nine points for the Marauders.

BG heads to Bishop Carroll on Friday night to play the Huskies, while the Red Raiders travel to play Johnstown Area on the same night.
