HUNTINGDON -- Southern Huntingdon pulled away from Juniata Valley in the second half of its 80-50 win Wednesday in the first round of the Huntingdon Lions Holiday Shootout at Juniata College in high school girls basketball.
Anna Taylor led the Lady Hornets with 18 points, Maddie Hopsicker added 14 points and Kassidy Watson scored 12 points.
Juniata Valley will play Mount Union, which lost to Huntingdon, 51-16 in the other first round game, in today's consolation game while Southern Huntingdon takes on the Lady Bearcats for the tournament championship.

Wilborn honored
Eli Wilborn, a member of the Saint Francis men's basketball team, became the sixth Red Flash men's basketball player to earn three Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honors with his latest conquest for the week of Dec. 18-24.
The freshman has won the honor in three of the last four weeks to help the Red Flash take home the recognition in four straight weeks and five times in the first seven weeks of the season.
Wilborn, a 6-8 forward, registered a career-high 15 points along with eight rebounds against Robert Morris.
The freshman shot a career-best 7-for-10 for the second time in his career.
He has registered at least five rebounds in four-straight games and eight times in his last 10 tilts, including five games with at least seven caroms.
