Athlete of the week achievement: Ciampoli captured the 160-pound Class 3A regional title over Mount Lebanon’s Cole Gibbons, his first-ever regional championship.
Season update: Ciampoli is 34-6 this season and is 97-28 in his career.
Coach Joel Gilbert’s quote: “Gavin has been one of our most consistent, entertaining and technical wrestlers for the past three years at Altoona. His three District 6 titles and regional championship put him right there with the best Altoona wrestlers of all time. His dedication to being the best wrestler in the state is constantly on display. His fearless approach and his ability to create openings make him fun to watch. The Altoona staff is very proud of Gavin and his accomplishments this weekend and are excited to see what the future brings.”
