Athlete of the Week

Scott’s dedication paying off

2 min read

Name: Kyle Scott

School: Tyrone Area

Age: 16

Grade: Junior

Sport: Wrestling

Athlete of the week achievement: Scott won by fall over three opponents, had two technical falls and won a major decision in rolling his way to the 189-pound championship at the Panther Classic. Scott also won by technical fall, 17-0, in a dual meet against Bedford earlier in the week.

Season update: Scott is 9-0, has only reached the third period once and has yet to finish a full match this year.

Coach Quentin Wright's quote: "Kyle is as tough as they come. He loves the sport, and he is constantly learning and improving. This past week was a great example of his patience and workmanlike dedication starting to show the results in which he expects of himself. He is wrestling his best as he does not have to worry about his weight this year and is enjoying every day. He is great at scoring points, so the new rules with the three-point takedown and four-point near-fall are making his matches much shorter."
