2 min read

Name: Cami Burkett

School: Portage Area

Age: 18

Grade: Senior

Sport: Track and field

Athlete of the week achievement: Burkett won the District 6 Class 2A championship in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She ran the 100 in 12.57 and broke her own school record in the 200 with a time of 25.66.

Season update: Burkett leads the Mirror's track and field honor roll in both the 100 (12.23) and the 200 (26.66) and will compete in both events at this week's PIAA championships.

Coach Lance Hudak's quote: "Cami's performance this week was extraordinary. As a returning champion in both the 100 and 200, there was a ton of pressure to back those titles up. She took care of business in a big way, literally running away with both gold medals in her senior farewell. She's worked for this. She's earned it, and she deserves every accolade she receives. We are so proud of her accomplishments as a Lady Mustang and can't wait to see the success she achieves as a Bucknell Bison."
