Athlete of the week achievement: Ruggery scored 20 points, including two free throws in the final seconds, to seal BG's 46-42 win over Williamsburg in the District 6 Class 1A championship game while also playing tough defense on Lady Pirates senior Ayla Hileman.

Season update: Ruggery is averaging 12.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.4 steals per game. She's also shooting 35.9 percent from 3-point range.

Coach Kristi Kaack's quote: "Morgan is playing beyond her freshman age and has shown an enormous amount of growth this season. She leads by example and raises the level of play for those around her daily. She's an extremely well-rounded player who can score in different ways, guard multiple positions and rebound on either end of the floor."
