Female Athlete of the Week: Clapper lauded for her efforts

School: Hollidaysburg Area

Age: 16

Grade: Junior

Sport: Volleyball

Athlete of the week achievement: Clapper was named to the all-tournament team while helping Hollidaysburg win the Moon Area tournament. The Lady Tigers topped WPIAL teams Chartiers Valley, Knoch and Neshannock. Clapper also had nine service points for Hollidaysburg in a victory over Bishop Guilfoyle earlier in the week.

Season update: Hollidaysburg is 3-1 with its only loss to District 6 and PIAA power Philipsburg-Osceola in four sets.

Coach Dean Grenfell's quote: "Emily has proven to be a pivotal part of our offense as a six-rotation setter and right-side hitter. She helps this team by creating matchup problems for our opponents as a hitter and blocker along with her ability to get her teammates the ball as a setter. Emily ended the tournament this weekend with 38 kills, 41 assists and controlled the service line for our team."
