Athlete of the week achievement: Daugherty threw the javelin 177 feet, 4 inches to win the individual championship and help the Scarlet Dragons take home the team title, 66-56, over Central Cambria at the Altoona Mountain Lion Classic. He also threw 156 feet and won the javelin title at the Bellwood Invitational.
Season update: Daugherty's throw of 177 feet, 4 inches was a career best, No. 76 in the nation according to run.tf and tops the Mirror's honor roll in the event.
Coach Blake Over's quote: "Rylan went out and finally had his big week he's been hoping for. He's been stuck at around 150 feet and has been frustrated. He's been going to practice and has been fighting to break through. He had a good practice the night before the meet and threw all six throws over 170 feet. It was an exciting day, finally breaking through that barrier."
