2 min read

Name: Eli Lingenfelter

School: Central

Age: 17

Grade: Senior

Sport: Football

Athlete of the week achievement: Lingenfelter made the game-saving defensive play for the Scarlet Dragons in a 21-20 win over Bishop Guilfoyle, knocking away a fourth-down pass in the end zone on BG's final possession. He also had seven catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns.

Season update: Central is 1-0 and will play fellow Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference power Richland on Friday.

Coach Dave Baker's quote: "Offensively, he made three or four incredible catches, two for touchdowns. Also, he kept BG from intercepting some balls, and he had a great game. He can really go after the ball at its highest point. That second touchdown was the touchdown that won it for us."
