Sport: Softball

Athlete of the week achievement: Peterson pitched Glendale to wins over Bishop McCort (7-1) and Ferndale (4-2) in the District 6 Class 1A quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively. She combined to strike out 27 batters and walk four. She gave up three earned runs and 11 hits in 14 innings. In the win over McCort, she went 2-for-4.

Season update: Peterson is 8-0 for the 16-1 Lady Vikings, with an ERA of 0.90 in 46+ innings. She has 69 strikeouts and 13 walks. Offensively, she is batting .364 with 20 hits, 13 RBIs, 17 runs scored and 10 extra base hits.

Coach Bruce Vereshack's quote: "She's a freshman with the nerves of a senior. She's been tough to score on all year, and she doesn't let you string hits together. The nice thing is, she's only going to get better. With the injury to (senior pitcher) Hannah Noel two weeks ago, Madi's role in the circle changed instantly and she's embraced it. She's a huge part of why we've been successful this year."
