Local scholastic players picked for all-star football game

The Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association announced the small-school (Class 1A-3A) rosters and coaching staffs for the 2026 East-West All-Star Games, which will take place on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Cumberland Valley High School’s Chapman Field, on Monday.
The West will take on the East at noon.
Penn Cambria quarterback Brady Jones will play for the West and have a familiar face blocking for him in offensive lineman Dayne Summerville. Also on the offensive line will be Anthony Rivello of Huntingdon.
Colin Gibbons of Bellwood-Antis made the West as a cornerback, and the kicker will be Philipsburg-Osceola’s Braylen Phillips.
Everett wins again
DuBOIS — The Everett High School rifle team recently captured its fifth straight scholastic state championship in both Air Rifle and Smallbore competition.
The Warriors have won the Air Rifle crown eight years in a row and nine out of 11 dating back to 2016 when the school program started to compete state-wide. They have won the Smallbore title nine times, along with three Prone titles.
They finished the year 11-0, their eighth-straight undefeated season and have won 126 consecutive meets.
In the Air Rifle competition, Everett finished first with a score of 2,293. Their aggregate scores were from Kinzey Williams (579), Laila Mills (578), Lukas LaSalle (273) and John Golden (563.
Bishop Carroll also competed and finished seventh out of 14 teams, led by Alena Nagle (529), Jillian Schoop (523), Eli Cunningham (521) and Preston Gillin (507). Portage was ninth, led by Jon Russell (561), Ana Selapack (533), Isabella Scarton (491), Jewlee Long (459) and Loralei Pisarski (458).
Tyrone Christian also competed, placing 11th behind Christian Harris (518), Roman DelBaggio (506), Brionna Walk (495) and Isabelle Deal (486).
In the Smallbore competition, Everett finished tops with a score of 1,546. The Warriors again were led by Mills (392), Williams (389), Golden (387) and LaSalle (378). Portage was eighth with a score of 1,177. The Mustangs were led by Scarton (313), Long (305), Dereck Plummer (284) and Pisarski (275).
Karlie Lynn, a senior from Tussey Mountain, defended her individual titles in smallbore and air rifle by winning gold again in both events. Lynn will compete at the Division I level this fall at West Virginia University.
