WEXFORD — Brionna Hudson had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lift Altoona to a 61-30 win over Penn Hills in a high school girls basketball game at North Allegheny High School on Monday.

Zaelihn Nguyen-Moore finished with 13 points, five assists and six rebounds for the Lady Lions, who improved to 8-2.

Altoona outscored Penn Hills, 21-1, in the first quarter.

EBENSBURG — Trailing by two entering the fourth quarter, Everett stormed past Portage to win 53-46 in the first round of the Dodson Electric “Light up the Holidays” Tournament.

Jade Colledge scored 25 points, and Emma Ritchey added 19 points for the Lady Warriors.

Kendall Bednarski led Portage with 18 points.

In the other first-round game, Central Cambria handed Penns Manor its first loss of the season, 46-35, by holding the Lady Comets to just three points in the fourth quarter.

Katie George scored 16 points, and Alaina Long added 10 points for the Lady Devils.

JOHNSTOWN — Mercyhurst Prep jumped ahead of Bishop Carroll Catholic early and picked up a 66-45 win over the Huskies with the help of 15 points from Trent Garner in a first round game at the Westmont Hilltop Christmas Tournament.

Smith wins title

CLEARFIELD — Central Cambria’s Makenna Smith won first place in her weight class at the Clearfield Bison high school girls wrestling tournament on Monday.

Abriella Ritchey and Lily Fulton finished second, and Abby Winkleman was fourth for the Lady Devils, who finished fourth as a team.

Kylie Ferguson and Kaydance Sinclair won junior high championships for Central Cambria.
