MEYERSDALE — The Northern Bedford boys basketball team improved to 2-1 Tuesday night with a 59-52 win at Meyersdale in high school play.
The Panthers, who led 18-9 after one quarter, got 18 points from Nate Eckenroad to go with 12 points from Nevin Lloyd. Cavan Lloyd added 11 points for Northern in a game it led, 29-24, at halftime.
Meyersdale got 16 points from Gavan Steinberg to go with 14 points from Carter Vogt.

LOYSBURG — The Northern Bedford girls basketball team is 2-1 after a 51-40 win at home over McConnellsburg.
The Lady Panthers, up 34-31 after three quarters, put the game away with a 17-9 showing in the final frame. Halle Baker led NBC with 16 points while freshman Ava Verbit chipped in with 11 points on an 11-for-14 showing from the foul line.
McConnellsburg, down 24-18 at halftime, got 17 points from Serenity Rengifo.

MECHANICSBURG — The PIAA announced on Tuesday the launching of the PIAA Radio Network.
The network will start up Thursday by putting on the air on all six high school football championship games, starting with the Class 1A game between Clairton and Bishop Guilfoyle Academy.
