Tigers ice hockey team holds on to defeat rival Lions

Jayden Mentzer assisted on the game-tying goal in the third period, and then scored the game-winner in Hollidaysburg’s 7-6 overtime win over Altoona in high school ice hockey at Galactic Ice on Tuesday.

Mentzer assisted Cole Hartman’s goal with 5:40 left in regulation that tied the game.

It was Hartman’s third goal of the game to complete a hat trick.

Carter Panick scored twice and had two assists for Altoona. Owen Wasovich, Owen Piper, Parker Mirobelli and Connor Stivers scored single goals for the Lions.

Brody Duey, Duane Doty and Ty Fitzgerald scored goals for the Golden Tigers.
