Altoona Mountain Lions fall short at Central Dauphin East

Boys basketball: Central Scarlet Dragons win on road

HARRISBURG — Altoona dug itself a 13-point hole at the halftime that it was never able to recover from in a 64-56 loss to Central Dauphin East in high school boys basketball action on Friday.

The Mountain Lions, who outscored the Panthers 34-29 in the second half, received a team-high 19 points from Chris Wagner.

Alijah Cooper tallied a game-high 26 points for CD East.

JV beats Glendale

FLINTON — Undefeated Juniata Valley jumped out to a 38-6 first-quarter lead en route to a 92-39 win at Glendale.

The Hornets (4-0), who led 58-16 at the break, got 25 points from Jett Rand to go with 21 points from Kyler Spurlin. Teammates Ethan Scalia (16) and Laken Cook (12) also helped out offensively.

Glendale (0-4) got 13 points from Rhylan Hoopsick-Bell and 11 points from Levi Hamilton.

Bears cruise to win

HUNTINGDON — Elijah Best knocked down six 3-pointers en route to 23 points, while also pulling down nine rebounds, to propel Great Commission to a 72-54 victory over Calvary Christian Huntingdon.

Alex Guise contributed 12 points, seven assists and four steals for the Bears, and Landyn Ulrich recorded 17 points.
