Hollidaysburg pounces on Penn Cambria early

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Hollidaysburg jumped all over Penn Cambria in the first quarter and then stretched the lead to 24 at the half en route to a 57-34 win in high school girls basketball on Friday.

Makenna Weimert poured in a game-high 23 points for the Lady Tigers, while Alana Lightner collected 12 to reach double figures.

Sophia Beard’s 10 points were tops for the Lady Panthers.

Blue Pirates triumph

WILLIAMSBURG — Williamsburg jumped out to an 11-point lead at halftime and was able to maintain the lead despite being outscored in the second half of a 60-52 victory over Southern Huntingdon in high school boys basketball.

Ethan Reffner and Evan Zehner each knocked down three 3-pointers and recorded 19 points for the Blue Pirates.

Cohen Snyder led all scorers with 23 points for the Rockets.

Tigers fall on road

JOHNSTOWN — Hollidaysburg entered the second period tied before Westmont Hilltop found the back of the net four times to hand the Tigers a 7-2 loss on in high school ice hockey action at 1st Summit at Cambria War Memorial.

The Golden Tigers two goals came from Cole Hartman, while Chase Link had two assists and Jayden Mentzer tallied one.

Colby Carlson notched three goals for the Highlanders, while Ethan Downey had two and two assists.
