Penn State men’s basketball coach Mike Rhoades announced on Monday the signing of Davidson transfer guard Roberts Blums ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Blums, a Latvia native, was Davidson’s leading scorer during the 2025-26 campaign and comes to Penn State with two seasons of eligibility left.
At Davidson, Blums appeared in 63 contests, averaging 12.4 points per game to go along with 3.4 rebounds per contest.
He ranked seventh in the Atlantic 10 in both 3-point field goal percentage (41%) and 3-pointers made (77). He had 21 double-digit scoring efforts and three 20-plus point games.
He played in 31 games off the bench during his freshman season at Davidson, averaging 4.3 points in 15.5 minutes per contest. He also registered five double-digit scoring efforts.
“Roberts possesses a great ability to stretch the floor, make quick decisions and create his own shot,” Rhoades said. “He will provide an experienced backcourt presence and we expect him to make an immediate impact as a reliable perimeter threat.”
Prior to his collegiate career at Davidson, Blums he was on a team that won both the 2024 Latvian League and Latvian Cup championships. He averaged 12 points per game after appearing in 32 games for VEF Riga in the Latvian Estonian Basketball League.
Blums was a member of both the U16 and U18 Latvian national teams. He averaged 20 points per game and 5.3 rebounds per contest during the 2023 FIBA U18 European Championships en route to Latvia’s gold-medal finish and was named MVP of the U18 European Championship tournament.
