Penn State running back Quinton Martin Jr., Ryan Barker staying with program

On the first official day of the transfer portal opening, Penn State had more players say they were returning to State College than those that announced they were transferring.

Those returning to campus are linebacker Alex Tatsch, defensive ends Max Granville and Yvan Kemajou, cornerbacks Audavion Collins and Daryus Dixson, wide receivers Koby Howard and Peter Gonzalez, kicker Ryan Barker, safety Vaboue Toure, running back Quinton Martin Jr., tight end Brian Kortovich, and offensive linemen Liam Horan and Henry Boehme.

One of the players transferring out is a local product in Bishop Guilfoyle Academy’s Karson Kiesewetter. The safety, who has two years of eligibility remaining, appeared in one game this season.

Also moving on are wide receiver Josiah Brown, offensive lineman Eagan Boyer, safeties Lamont Payne and King Mack, running backs Cam Wallace and Corey Smith, and quarterback Jaxon Smolik.

On the coaching side, the university confirmed the addition of D’Anton Lynn as defensive coordinator. Lynn is also bringing his former defensive line coach at UCLA in Ikaika Malloe to lead that unit at Penn State. Malloe was UCLA’s defensive coordinator the past two seasons, but mutually agreed to part ways when Deshaun Foster was fired as head coach.

Former PSU offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki is moving on to be the associate head coach on Lance Leipold’s staff at Kansas.

Marques Hagans will be the assistant wide receivers coach at Michigan. Anthony Poindexter, who was the team’s defensive coordinator for the Pinstripe Bowl, will become the defensive backs coach at Tennessee to work under former PSU defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.

Starting at $2.99/week.
