Musings of Penn State Blue-White games gone by

Some Blue-White game, er, practice notes while hoping to dodge the rain: This is a new era for Penn State football, but in one aspect, the program is taking a step back today. Why? Because for the first time in memory, there’s no electronic coverage of the Blue-White Game (12:15 p.m. ...

Blue team wins 22-18 in Blue-White Practice

UNIVERSITY PARK — A sparse crowd of about 5,000 on a miserable weather day came out to West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the Blue-White Practice, which was a 22-18 win for the Blue team. Most of the crowd sat under the overhangs of the upper deck to avoid a driving rain through most of the practice. The team held position drills, a 7-on-7 skeleton drill, offensive and defensive line pass rush situations, team periods, and a few special teams plays. Full coverage can be found in Monday’s edition of the Mirror.

PSU believes in Howard and vice versa

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State’s Koby Howard caught nine passes as a true freshman last year for a team-high 19.1 yards per reception. It was an encouraging start at a position screaming for big-play productivity. And yet, asked Tuesday what he learned most from 2025, Howard said: “A lot ...

For all that’s new, still expect a lot of the same

Last year’s Blue-White Game didn’t look anything like a normal spring game from the past. There were drills being ran in position groups. The popular 7-on-7 “skeleton” drill was part of it. Offensive and defensive lines ran pass protection and pass rushing 1-on-1 drills. At the end, there was a little bit of a scrimmage held in a thud format, rather than wrapping up and tackling. In other words, there isn’t much of a game to be played any longer. The 2026 edition of the Nittany Lions is now just embracing that sentiment by now calling it the Blue-White Practice. And ...

Parking lots will open at 8 a.m. Club, Letterman/ADA, Museum/ADA and suite entrances will open at 9 a.m. Gates A, B, C & E will open for the public at 11 a.m. Fan seating will be available in the north, south and east lower bowl areas of the stadium. No west side seating will be available, and ...

Blue-White practice not must-see television

Anyone who wants to see the highlight event of Blue-White Weekend at Penn State, some on-field activity at Beaver Stadium that’s no longer a game and at best a practice, will have to do so in person. It’s kind of an old-school, throwback weekend in Happy Valley that way. Forget 2026, it will feel several decades earlier Saturday — maybe not by what happens in the stadium or on the field, but by how people access it. Or not. There’s no planned TV coverage of the practice session for the football team and no radio coverage, either. As of this writing, there’s not even any ...
