UNIVERSITY PARK -- Penn State closed out its non-conference schedule in a much more convincing style on Saturday compared to last week, finishing out with a 55-13 victory over Buffalo.
For perhaps the first time this season, the Lions showed they can get it done with the run. The running backs, primarily led by Carson Hansen, James Peoples, and Quinton Martin Jr., ran for 304 yards. Martin led the way with exactly 100 yards on the ground, followed by Peoples with 59 yards and Hansen with 37.
That's not to say that it wasn't a good day for passing either against the overmatched Bulls. Rocco Becht finished with 212 yards on 11 of 19 passing while on his way to surpassing the 10,000 career yards mark. Koby Howard made a big impact with 115 yards on three receptions, including a 70-yard touchdown catch and a 20-yard rush.
Defensively, Kooper Ebel led the way with five tackles and a sack.
The 1986 Penn State national championship team was honored at halftime in front of a big applause.
Penn State (3-0) gets into Big Ten play next week against Wisconsin. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. and will be available for streaming only on Peacock.
