After an impressive showing in last weekend's 45-0 shutout win over Marshall, Penn State will hit the road for the first time this season to Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field to take on Temple.
Here are five keys to the game for the Nittany Lions moving to 2-0.
1. Defensive line takes over: The Owls have as many as four offensive linemen injured already after just one game. It sounds like a good time for PSU's massive defensive front to have a field day.
Caleb Bacon flew all over the field in his first game at edge rusher with six tackles, including three for a loss, and a sack. Tony Rojas had a big day, too, and that can't happen without the likes of defensive tackles Siale Taupaki and Keanu Williams eating up a ton of space.
It would be a good recipe for success to start there with dismantling a patchwork offensive line on the Temple side.
2. Get the RBs involved: It wasn't a banner day for the running backs last week, but it didn't need to be as quarterback Rocco Becht shined in his first action as a Nittany Lion.
Carson Hansen and Cam Wallace matched the high in carries with 11 apiece and Hansen edging Wallace by a yard, 48-47. Quinton Martin Jr. added 10 carries for 38 yards, and James Peoples secured 31 yards on the ground on eight rushes.
None of the four lit up the stat sheet, but today or next week would be a good time to get the run game kickstarted.
3. Rocco is the rock: Becht was everything fans hoped for against Marshall, and it's exactly what you expect from someone who has been around college football for as long as he has.
Becht was 13 for 18 for 271 yards and four touchdowns, but it wasn't like he was perfect. He missed 6-7 tight end Benjamin Brahmer high on one pass, but he was still very good.
If Becht continues to be as efficient as he was last week, the Lions' offense will be fine.
4. Special teams are special: Ever since he took over as the starting placekicker in the middle of the 2024 season, Ryan Barker has been excellent. He only had one field goal attempt last week, and he nailed a 38-yarder. That's pretty close to automatic for him.
The Lions look like they may have found something in Zay Robinson as a kick and punt returner, and Mississippi State transfer punter Nathan Tiyce was solid last week.
Special teams can't be understated. PSU needs more of that going forward.
5. Embrace the atmosphere: There won't be too many road games where there will probably be more PSU fans in attendance than the home team. This will likely be one of them.
Lincoln Financial Field has a capacity of 67,594, and it will be drenched in a lot of blue and white. It may not be the Pennsylvania rivalry that many college football fans in this area would like to see, but there's a good chance this atmosphere won't disappoint.
