Warren stars again as Nittany Lions overpower Purdue, move to 9-1

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Penn State stayed on track for a berth in the College Football Playoff on Saturday.
The Nittany Lions went into Purdue and cruised to a 49-10 victory over the hapless Boilermakers before 58,346 at Ross-Ade Stadium.
The win moved No. 4 State to 9-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Big Ten heading into next week's game at Minnesota.
Purdue (1-9) lost its ninth straight.
Star tight end Tyler Warren once again led the way for the Lions. Warren caught four passes for first downs on Penn State's first two possessions, including a 15-yard touchdown, as PSU built a quick 14-0 lead.
For the game, Warren accounted for 190 yards of total offense. He caught eight passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed three times for 63 yards and another score.
In the second quarter, Warren threw a backwards pass to Drew Allar, who then found Warren for 38 yards up the left sideline. A play later, Nick Singleton scored on a 10-yard touchdown run, boosting the Lions' lead to 21-3 at halftime.
On the Lions' first possession of the third quarter, on third-and-1, Warren took a direct snap and rushed 48 yards for a touchdown that extended the lead to 28-3.
Allar chucked a 46-yard touchdown to a wide-open Trey Wallace in the third quarter made it 35-3.
The rout continued when Beau Pribula -- after having a touchdown pass dropped (by Anthony Ivey) -- rushed 49 yards for a score (42-3) to close the third quarter.
Purdue punched in a late TD against the Lions' reserves when tight end Max Klare took a pass from Ryan Browne and scored from 20 yards out with 9:50 remaining.
Penn State closed the scoring on 24-yard touchdown pass from Pribula to freshman tight end Luke Reynolds with 1:51 remaining.
Allar wound up completing 17-of-19 for 247 yards and three touchdowns. He was not intercepted or sacked.
Pribula completed 5-of-8 for 58 yards and a TD.
Minnesota (6-4 overall and 4-3 in the Big Ten) was idle on Saturday. Kickoff next week is 3:30 p.m. for CBS.
Purdue (1-9 overall, 0-7 in the Big Ten) visits Michigan State on Friday night for an 8 p.m. kickoff.
