UNIVERSITY PARK — Call it a perfect time for a bounce back game for Penn State after last week’s deflating loss.

The Nittany Lions jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead, and although it was a shaky second half, it was more than enough to get back on track with a 35-6 victory over Washington in its first trip to Happy Valley as a new Big Ten member.

Attendance was announced at 110,233 for the annual White Out game, which was the ninth-largest crowd ever at Beaver Stadium.

The Lions jumped out to a 28-0 lead at the half, thanks to a balanced effort from the offense. Drew Allar had 140 passing yards at the half to go with 128 rushing yards. They also happened to score four touchdowns on four possessions.

Their first drive ended with a Beau Pribula 8-yard rushing touchdown.

After a lot of questions about not getting the ball into Tyler Warren’s hands on first-and-goal from the 3 last week against Ohio State, Warren turned into the go-to guy to take the snaps at the goal line in the second quarter. Warren scored twice on a Wildcat draw, both from two yards out in the second quarter.

Allar got himself into the TD column on the stat sheet with an 8-yard TD pass to Julian Fleming in the final minute of the first half to give the Lions a 28-0 lead.

Some of the second half left something to be desired, but PSU was never in danger of blowing a 28-point halftime lead. The Huskies hit a pair of field goals — one each in the third and fourth quarter.

PSU got one more on the scoreboard on a 1-yard rush from Kaytron Allen to make it 35-6.

Allar finished the day with 220 yards on 20 of 28 passing with one touchdown. Allen led the way with 98 yards rushing after Nicholas Singleton was used sparingly in the second half. Freshman Corey Smith added 95 rushing yards, which included a 78-yard gain late in the game.

Penn State (8-1 overall, 5-1 Big Ten) will hit the road for the next two games — the first one coming at Purdue next week at 3:30 p.m on CBS. Washington (5-5 overall, 3-4 Big Ten) is back home on Friday night against UCLA.
