Lady Mounties fall at York
YORK -- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team fel to 1-1 Friday night, losing at York College, 67-53, in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.
Molly Kosmack's 15 points were tops for the Lady Mounties, who trailed 37-23 at halftime after getting outscored, 17-9, in the second quarter.
Angelina Kohlwaies added 14 points to go with 10 from Annalyn Isaacs.
The Mount will play Notre Dame out of Maryland Saturday at 1 p.m. back at York.
PSU Altoona women lose third of season
MONACA -- The Penn State Altoona women's basketball team fell to 1-3 Friday night, losing to Penn State Beaver, 88-79.
Avana Sayles' 26 points were tops for Altoona, which struggled early and fell behind 19-9. Madison Rusnica added 20 points to go with 12 off the bench from Haley Hicks.
PSU Beaver, up 43-31 at halftime, got 21 points from Claudia Sigfriend.
PSU Altoona is at Gettysburg on Wednesday.
PSU Altoona men win again
The Penn State Altoona men's basketball team improved its record to 3-1 Friday night, thanks to a 73-62 win over Regent University at the Adler Gymnasium.
The Lions, who used a 44-26 second-half showing to pull away for the win, got a big game from Dwayne Jones who posted his third double-double of the season, finishing the night with a team-high 18 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to go along with three assists and two blocks.
Teammate Jalen Martinez added 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and two blocks.
Kal-El Gentles contributed 12 points, six boards, and two assists, and Nehemiah Frye totaled 10 points and six rebounds.
Regent was led in scoring by Vladimir Vibert, who put up a game-high 24 points for the Royals.
Penn State Altoona will compete at a tournament to be held at Western New England University in Massachusetts Nov. 22-23.
