Play of the game: With 10 seconds left in the first half, Drew Allar found Trey Wallace for an 18-yard touchdown pass to extend the Nittany Lions' lead to 20-6.
Offensive player of the game: Allar completed 11-of-17 for 216 yards and three touchdowns. He was not intercepted or sacked. He also rushed six times for 44 yards.
Defensive player of the game: Lion safety Jaylen Reed made nine stops, broke up two passes and recovered a fumble.
Most telling statistic: Penn State averaged 7.6 yards per play.
Hidden statistic: The game was delayed 139 minutes by lightning from the end of the second quarter (2:04 p.m.) until 4:23 p.m.
Most deceiving statistic: Penn State overcame eight penalties for 60 yards by the Big 12 crew.
Best run: Nick Singleton busted a 40-yard touchdown to open the second half, bumping the Nits' lead to 27-6.
Best pass: Allar threw several. We'll pick his 17-yarder to Wallace at the WVU sideline that he fit into a tight window from across the field, setting up the Lions' first TD.
Best catch: Wallace went low to snag an underthrown ball from Allar for an 18-yard reception in the first quarter.
Catch it, will ya: Didn't see an obvious drop by a PSU receiver.
Hold it, won't ya: Both starting quarterbacks combined to fumble four times in the first quarter -- one by Allar and three by Garrett Greene.
Best block: Drew Shelton (66) sprung Singleton.
Best tackle: On fourth-and-1 from the PSU 15 late in the first quarter, Kobe King stopped Greene's quarterback sneak to end a good WVU drive.
Best hit: Tony Rojas dumped Greene on a fourth-quarter 2-point conversion attempt.
Best kick: Riley Thompson had a 49-yarder punt while averaging 44.0.
Worst kick: Sander Sahaydak got a 47-yard attempt late in the game and missed it.
Best call: On fourth-and-4 from the WVU 31, the Lions nixed a longer field-goal attempt and went to Tyler Warren for a first down, setting up a touchdown to Kaytron Allen on the next play.
Worst call: No reason for the Nits to go for a 2-point conversion after taking a 6-0 lead. They botched the play anyway.
Best effort: Fellow safety Kevin Winston made a team-high 12 tackles, including a solo, and forced a fumble.
Unsung hero: Omari Evans did a good job to come back for a 55-yarder bomb near the end of the first half, which set up the Nits' 20-6 lead.
