ATLANTA -- A pre-game message on social media created some controversy involving Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin.
The tweet surfaced Friday and originated from a "WeAre_PennSt" account that was created in December and had 62 followers.
It quoted Penn State linebacker Kobe King as saying "Ole Miss will wish they never had to play us after we do what we came here to do ... We'll embarrass them on the field."
The account was clearly not representing King, who hadn't met the media since November, and listed Penn State as a seven-time national champion and five-time Big Ten champ.
It was exacerbated when Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin retweeted it on Friday.
After the game, he said one of his staff members, Fisher Ray, created it, and Kiffin had no regrets.
"I thought it was pretty funny," Kiffin said.
He did say "I'm glad we won" so it couldn't have been used as an excuse for providing extra motivation for the Nittany Lions.
"It was all in good fun," he said.
King took it in stride but called being dragged into it "disappointing."
"I found out last night," he said. "One of my teammates sent it to me. It didn't really matter. I didn't pay much attention to it. They did what they did."
Kiffin has more than 600,000 Twitter followers and has tweeted more than 15,000 times.
"I'm not going to start making social media rules on people," he said.
