COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Penn State has regained some of its mo-jo.
The Nittany Lions maintained their domination over Maryland at SECU Stadium on Saturday and rolled to a 51-15 victory before 51,802 fans pretty well evenly divided between the two teams.
No. 9 Penn State improved to 8-1 on the season entering next week's anticipated matchup with unbeaten Michigan.
The Lions own the series 43-3-1 and have completely ruled here lately, outscoring Maryland 207-32 over the past four trips to SECU.
Drew Allar had his best game, completing 25-of-34 for 240 yards and four touchdowns. He was not intercepted.
PSU had been searching for another receiver besides KeAndre Lambert-Smith to emerge all season, and Dante Cephas did, catching six passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns.
Lambert-Smith led the Nits with eight catches for 95 yards.
Penn State's defense set the tone right away by stuffing Maryland on fourth-and-1 from midfield on its first series, forcing the Terps to fumble on their next and stopping Maryland on third-and-1 to force a punt.
By the end of the first quarter, the Lions led 14-0, and kept their two-touchdown lead at halftime, 21-7.
Penn State did not allow Maryland to score in the third quarter, and in fact the Lions have outscored their opponents, 94-0 in the third quarter this season.
The Terps could not run the ball at all. Including sacks, Maryland rushed for negative 49 yards.
Leading 24-7, the Lions tacked on three fourth-quarter touchdowns — a 15-yard touchdown from Allar to Cephas, Kaytron Allen's 10-yard TD run and Beau Pribula’s 6-yard TD run to go with Alex Felkins’ two field goals.
Maryland committed three turnovers in the fourth quarter and four on the day.
Terp quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa completed his first 17 passes and wound up 29-of-39 for 286 yards and two TDs.
Kickoff for No. 2 Michigan is noon and Fox will televise.
The Terps fell to 5-4 and visit Nebraska next week.
