PSU hockey cruises to win

ALLENTOWN -- In Penn State's third ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament -- and first since 2018 --the Nittany Lions led from start to finish over Michigan Tech in an 8-0 victory in the Allentown Regional.

Penn State will play Michigan, a winner over Colgate in the other regional game, on Sunday night.

The Nittany Lions were led by junior goaltender Liam Souliere, who got his third shutout of the season. He finished with 24 saves on 24 shots on goal.

The offense saw eight different Penn State players get goals. Tyler Paquette scored the lone first-period goal for the early lead. However, Penn State expanded its lead with three second-period goals, courtesy of Jarod Crespo, Ashton Calder and Christian Berger.

The Nittany Lions closed out the scoring with four goals in the third period, courtesy of Kevin Wall, Chase McLane, Connor McMenamin and Ryan Kirwin. Carter Shade finished with two assists.

Sunday's game with Michigan starts at 6:30 p.m.
