UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State put last week’s debacle at Michigan deep in its rear-view mirror Saturday.

Before a White Out crowd of 109,853, the Nittany Lions stomped Minnesota, 45-17, on a gorgeous night at Beaver Stadium.

Sean Clifford led the offensive attack by completing 23-of-31 for 295 yards and four touchdowns. He was intercepted once.

Parker Washington caught seven passes for 70 yards, including a spectacular 35-yard touchdown to give the Lions a 24-10 lead in the third quarter, and Mitchell Tinsley added four for 58 yards and a TD that extended the lead to 38-10.

The tight ends were more a part of the offense and were led by Theo Johnson's four catches for 66 yards.

With the score tied 3-3, Clifford found tight end Tyler Warren over the middle for a 44-yard TD and followed that with an 18-yard scoring strike to Johnson for a 17-3 lead.

The Lions’ defense, shredded at Michigan, limited Minnesota to 2-for-13 on third down.

Penn State improved to 6-1 on the season and 3-1 in the Big Ten.

Minnesota, without starting quarterback Tanner Morgan (concussion), lost its third-straight game and fell to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in the Big Ten.

Penn State will now gear up for No. 2 Ohio State next Saturday. Kickoff is at noon, and Fox will televise.
