WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Penn State opened the season on a winning note Thursday night.
Sean Clifford found Keyvone Lee open for a 10-yard touchdown pass with 57 seconds to go, lifting the Nittany Lions to a 35-31 victory in a back-and-forth game before 57,307 at Ross-Aide Stadium.
Penn State’s defense made a final stand to clinch the victory.
The Lions led 21-10 at halftime but Purdue punched in two touchdowns to take a 24-21 lead into the fourth quarter.
